CYBERBULLYING AND SOCIAL MEDIA
DIGITAL RESOUCE TOOLKIT
Digital citizenship is defined as "the norms of behavior with regards to technology use" (Ribble, Bailey & Ross, 2004, p. 7). In normal life we expect people to be good digital citizens. That is, use digital technology appropriately and productively. However, this is not the case. There are predators out there behind the internet wall who are just there to harm others and especially teens (Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 2015; Public Health Promotion video). The sad case of 12 years old Amand Todd is an example.
Thus, it is very important for teachers to educate students, particularly secondary schools students (Teens) about digital citizenship / ethical digital citizenship, cyber bullying, and social media etiquette. Below is a digital resource toolkit teachers can use to teach high school students (Grade 10 - 12) about cyber bullying and social media etiquette.
I choose Symbaloo to create this digital resource tool rather than Pinterest because:
1). The tiles make it very easy to upload online resources as well as customizing.
2). The site is very easy to navigate.
3). It showcases resources excellently as one can use colors to differentiate topics.
